Steak tips with Peppered Mushroom Gravy
Cook noodles
In a large skillet, over medium high heat, sauté meat, browning all sides - remove from pan and set aside
Melt butter over medium heat, add shallots and mushrooms - sauté 4 minutes. Add garlic, sauté 30 seconds. Stir in soy sauce, sprinkle flour over mushroom mixture, cook 1 minute stirring. Gradually add broth. Add pepper, salt and thyme sprigs. Bring to boil until thickened. Return beef and discard thyme sprigs. Garnish with thyme leaves.
Wedge Salad
On each salad plate, place 1 wedge of lettuce turned on its side. Pour blue cheese dressing on wedge. Sprinkle with tomatoes, green onions, crumbled blue cheese, and crumbled bacon.
Homemade Biscuits
Sift Flour once, measure, add baking powder and salt, and sift again. Cut in shortening or butter. Add milk gradually, stirring until soft dough is formed. Turn out on slightly floured board and lightly "knead" for 30 seconds, enough to shape. Roll 1/2 inch thick and cut with 2 inch floured biscuit cutter. Bake on un greased sheet in a 400-degree oven for 12-15 minutes. Makes 12 biscuits. You can also make tiny tea biscuits that are only 1 1/2 inches wide with a small cutter or glass bottom. These are great served with tea, jam or honey. Makes 24.
Mississippi Mud Pie
Place pudding mix in a medium bowl and whisk in milk. Mix until smooth. Allow to set up for 5 minutes then spread on top of cooled crust.
In a large bowl whip cream cheese until fluffy. Beat in confectioner's sugar until mixture is smooth. In a separate bowl, whip cream until soft peaks form, then fold into cream cheese mixture. Spread over pudding layer. Chill before serving.
Tall Grass Tea
Shake over ice and strain into a sugar-rimmed martini glass.
